Myths About The Deficit

I urge everyone to take 10 minutes to read this excellent article on the myths of the deficit from the Heritage Foundation.  The article discusses the big 3 entitlement programs (social security, medicare and medicaid), tax cuts and what it will take to get the budget balanced.
Can we get back to the balanced budget of the 1990's under the Clinton administration?  It won't be easy because the world situation is not the same.  Clinton had the luxury of the Cold War era ending (no wars to pay for), the stock market bubble and a less borrowing (result of the first 2 things).
As we all heard from "The Chosen One" the entire deficit is Bush's fault.......too bad for BHO that the statistics don't back him up on that claim.  While the increased spending under Bush has contributed to the deficit - by 2007 (the year the Liberals took over Congress) the deficit had stabilized at $161 billion.
The statistics show that the problem is not the amount of tax revenue the government is bringing in but (are you ready for this shocker?) the amount the government continues to spend on entitlement programs.
